2020 Seattle Symposium
Building an Advanced Privacy Program

#IANSSeattle #IANSEvents

Thursday, March 5, 2020 | 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Seattle Marriott Waterfront, Seattle, WA

Existing and forecasted data privacy/protection legislation is taxing the current privacy model inside large organizations. Security teams need step-by-step guidance to keep up.

This symposium will help attendees identify key areas where they need to mature their privacy function; changes needed in people, processes and technology; and which responsibilities fall under security vs. privacy. The agenda includes:

  • Reviewing key ingredients of a privacy program
  • The importance of teaming up with human resources (HR) for more secure data flow and better General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance
  • With HR as an ally, taking the challenge to other business units
  • How to more effectively review SOC 2 audit reports
  • Ensuring data retention and deletion procedures are in place
  • Creating a data protection addendum (DPA) that clearly outlines roles and responsibilities of the CISO, legal department and other business units
  • Reviewing the two kinds of DPA – processing and controlling – and determining which category your company falls into
  • Surrounding documents and certifications that matter, like the EU model clause for dealing with processors and EU Privacy Shield
  • Cross controls: What you can use for both Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Payment Card Industry (PCI)
