MCP Risks and Opportunities in an AI World
The Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard defining how AI assistants connect to external data sources and tools, is becoming vital infrastructure for generative and agentic AI applications. As organizations rapidly adopt these capabilities while managing risks, this symposium helps security leaders understand MCP's architecture, why vendors are quickly developing MCP servers, and the security risks of connecting AI systems to enterprise resources. We also explore how AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM) tools are evolving to address these challenges and provide practical frameworks for managing MCP-enabled AI deployments.
- Understand MCP fundamentals – What the protocol does, how it enables agentic AI capabilities and why major vendors are quickly adopting it as the standard for AI-to-system connectivity
- Identify and assess security risks – Examine the increased attack surface, data exposure issues and authentication challenges associated with MCP-enabled AI systems accessing enterprise resources
- Learn how AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM) helps – Discover new tools and frameworks for monitoring, securing and governing MCP connections and the AI agents that use them
- Develop a practical security strategy – Gain actionable insights on applying controls, establishing governance policies and balancing innovation with risk management in MCP deployments
