There are all the warnings that AI will replace human analysts, especially at the entry level, but the reality is far more complicated and, in many cases, positive. Rather than eliminating jobs, AI can elevate, empower, and enable the next generation of security professionals.

Some fear that AI’s advancement means the end for junior SOC analysts. The reality is that removing entry-level roles would erase the pipeline that produces seasoned experts and future leaders. Organizations need pathways for talent to grow, and AI should be seen as a tool to support this, not undermine it.

Rather than replacing analysts, AI’s true promise lies in augmentation. Large Language Models (LLMs) trained on security content can serve as always-available mentors—analysts can ask questions and learn without fear of judgment. AI can supercharge a SOC team’s efficiency, but people remain irreplaceable. The future of AI in the SOC is not about replacing people, but empowering them. Organizations that harness AI as an enabling tool will not only improve operational effectiveness but also nurture the talent pipelines they need for long-term success
