Introducing IANS News and an AI-Enhanced Platform Experience for Security Leaders
IANS News and Ask IANS combine practitioner‑led insights, proprietary expert data, and AI search to help security leaders focus on what matters — and act with confidence.
During my early months at IANS, talking with our clients, I heard versions of the same story over and over: “The demands on me are growing and you need to keep pace.” They brought up AI, an unprecedented pace of technological change, and a volatile and evolving threat landscape that has made the job of a security professional harder than it’s ever been. As an information provider trusted by its clients, we at IANS had to reflect the urgency this moment demands.
Our clients wanted us to fill an important need: Focus them on the news that matters and guide them on what to do about it. We delivered on this with the launch of IANS News.
IANS has spent years building something unique in the market - a network of 170+ expert practitioner “Faculty” who've held the jobs our clients have; thousands of expert conversations; and a body of data-driven research grounded in what works.
News is a perfect fit for us. Anyone with a background in premium sector-focused news knows well that the most difficult part is building your contacts – a cohort of true experts that will take your calls, offer insight, etc. At IANS, we have the best security Rolodex in the world and we’re drawing upon that to offer our clients news unmatched in relevance, quality and usefulness.
IANS News: Practitioner‑Vetted Cybersecurity News You Can Act On
There's no shortage of security news on the internet. The shortage is in high-quality, human-authored, unbiased and interpreted security news — stories filtered through the perspective of someone who has the expertise and credibility to help you understand what it means for your program.
Every IANS News story is written by our reporters and backed by Faculty analysis. When something breaks, we're not aggregating third-party takes or synthesizing public conventional wisdom with AI. We're going to the practitioners who work with security teams every day and asking: what does this really mean, and what should you do about it?
Disruptor Radar: Tracking Emerging Cybersecurity Threats Over Time
In tandem with News we’ve released Disruptor Radar that allows you to track the stories that warrant sustained attention over time. Think of it as a persistent thread on the issues that keep developing – for example, the Iran Conflict – so you don't have to reconstruct context every time there's a new update.
One thing worth being explicit about: IANS doesn't accept vendors as clients or sell advertising. Our News team operates with complete autonomy and is governed only journalistic rigor and editorial best practice. As a former journalist, that ethic is important to me and will always characterize our approach.
Ask IANS Updates: An AI Search Tool Grounded in Proprietary Practitioner Intelligence
Ask IANS, our proprietary AI search tool received a meaningful upgrade. We boosted search accuracy and relevance, dramatically improved the underlying model, and roughly doubled the volume of sources available for answers.
This sourcing is what makes Ask IANS different. Every answer is grounded exclusively in IANS's proprietary knowledge base - our own news, Faculty research, the conversations between security professionals and our expert practitioners, major incident tracking, and Faculty-authored vendor analysis.
The practical result: when you query Ask IANS about a topic, you're getting an answer grounded in what expert practitioners have said in response to real-world client problems, not a regurgitation or synthesis of publicly available information.
And if you want another level of expert vetting you can escalate to a live Faculty conversation without leaving the platform.
Ask‑an‑Expert Call Summaries: Real‑World Security Decisions From Your Peer Community
We now have thousands of expert conversations in our system. Every time a client calls a Faculty member for advice, that exchange becomes data available to our clients to access for insight — anonymized, structured, and searchable.
I am continuously astonished at the value and insights embedded in these conversations when captured at scale – whether queried with an AI tool such as Ask IANS, or through a topic-based search filtered by industry, company or security team size, or simply a recurring scan to see what’s driving conversations that day. This is powerful leverage for decision making that doesn't exist anywhere else.
A Connected Security Intelligence Platform: News, AI Search, and Expert Insight
We believe these pieces, each valuable in their own right, act together to unlock immense value in our platform -- a marriage of deeply differentiated data and integrated, powerful analytical tools. You read a News story about a breaking vulnerability – you click on a Call Summary to see how similar organizations handled it - you use Ask IANS to generate a response plan tailored to your situation - you connect with a Faculty expert for a live deep dive if you need it.
The goal is that each step builds context for the next, so you're not starting from scratch every time. You become smarter as you go, confident that intelligence is built on the best possible data.
We'll keep improving all of this. If you're a client, log in and let your Account Manager know what you think — that feedback goes directly into the product roadmap. Want to learn more about how to stay on top of security new? Talk to us.
Although reasonable efforts will be made to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the information contained in our blog posts, no liability can be accepted by IANS or our Faculty members for the results of any actions taken by individuals or firms in connection with such information, opinions, or advice.
