AI systems are being used more and more to analyze data, assess policies, and identify risks, all of which offer support to compliance professionals. By collecting, correlating, and contextualizing vast amounts of data, AI can make complex regulatory requirements clearer. In many cases, AI can help drive compliance.

However, ensuring that AI systems operate within legal and ethical boundaries is imperative and a priority. There must be transparency in how AI makes decisions and where its data originates to prevent misuse and avoid potential regulatory violations. Navigating compliance in the age of AI requires clear governance, regular reviews of data sources, and a commitment to full transparency. As AI continues to evolve and gain adoption, organizations using it must stay ahead of legal and ethical standards to build trust and maintain integrity.

Organizations can explore frameworks to manage their risk with AI, such as the NIST AI management framework. It is critical to understand the compliance requirements for AI systems and to review the data sources AI systems use. There is a dual challenge of leveraging AI for compliance while also ensuring the AI tools meet compliance standards. Organizations should adopt complete transparency, investigate legal safeguards, and explore ethical data usage to guide AI compliance.
