Often, vendors and organization put the primary focus on the positive spin and move forward by building business cases, buying tools, and deploying them. But at the same time, the potential weaknesses and vulnerabilities of the technology are overlooked. The duality of technology—benefits and risks—is why cybersecurity exists.

The goal is to deal with the downside of innovative technologies upfront so that businesses can enjoy the benefits with less risk. Technology isn't slowing down, and the technology debt won't disappear, but by recognizing the potential risks associated with innovation, cybersecurity leaders can better manage those risks and help organizations embrace innovation.
