IANS Insights Lunch - Rethink Data Governance for a GenAI World

Location: IANS Suite - The W Las Vegas
12:00pm - 1:30pm

AI is only as secure as the data it learns from, and most organizations are unaware of the implications. Legacy tools weren’t designed for GenAI pipelines. They can’t detect how sensitive data seeps into LLM prompts, embeddings, or fine-tuning sets. Additionally, they can’t enforce policies when that data appears in hallucinated outputs.

This session is a call to rethink data governance, not as mere documentation, but as a dynamic control surface for AI.

  • Why inline DLPs and traditional catalogs fail in GenAI environments
  • How a Data Bill of Materials (DBOM) gives you traceability into what models see, learn from, and influence
  • Why unstructured data, like chat logs, screenshots, and video transcripts, is the new attack surface
  • How Model Context Protocol (MCP) bridges data lineage and model behavior, acting as a policy and observability layer across LLM interactions
  • What it takes to govern AI models as if they were infrastructure, because they are

If you can’t see what your models are learning from, you can’t govern what they do next.
